Acclaimed jazz guitarist David Stern brings his formidable quartet to Zinc on Monday, March 2. He’s supported by pianist Marc Copland, bassist Dominic Duval, and drummer Rudy Royston.
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, David began his pursuit of music at the age of five. Starting with violin, he participated in many music programs in and outside of school. After experimenting with many types of music and instruments, he set his primary focus to jazz guitar during high school.
In the fall of 2014, he moved to Boston to study performance and composition at Berklee College of Music. The four years he spent there were crucial to his musical development. During this time he expanded his group of peer musicians while also studying with notable teachers (including Dave Liebman, Kenny Werner, Mick Goodrick, George Garzone, Ralph Peterson, and Hal Crook).
In May 2018, he graduated Berklee and moved to New York City to join the music scene. He currently is an active musician in both public performances and private events (i.e. parties, weddings, cocktail hours, etc.). When not performing, he finds himself teaching on faculty at the New York Jazz Workshop. He is also a contributing member of the Local 802 musician union’s Jazz Committee
